The purpose of treatment

Ear pinning, or otoplasty, is a procedure designed to correct prominent ears by reshaping and reattaching them to the head. It is suitable for all age groups – including children – who are interested in improving the appearance and symmetry of the ears.

How does it work?

Ear pinning is a surgical procedure. At the very beginning, the treating physician will examine the condition of the ears, assess whether the ear needs to be shaped or simply pinned, and develop a personalized treatment plan. After administering local anesthesia, small incisions will be made behind the ears to access the cartilage. The cartilage will then be reshaped and repositioned to create a more natural contour. The incisions will then be sutured and a bandage will be applied to stabilize the ears until healing is complete.

Duration of treatment

The entire procedure usually takes several hours. If general anesthesia is required for any reason, you may need to stay overnight.

Pain level

After surgery, you may experience pain and swelling in the area. Your doctor will prescribe painkillers for you.

Warnings

All instructions provided by the clinic staff must be followed, including maintaining the dressing to ensure optimal results. Strenuous activity and pressure on the ears should be avoided for several weeks.
